WHEREAS the Synagogue is a basic and essentialunit of Jewish Life, not only religiously but socially andculturally, it is beneficial that these Synagogues be united inCouncil for the purpose of preserving, fostering and unitingJudaism.
The Council being the Corporate Body known as theSynagogue Council of Greater Montreal (SCGM) to which therepresentatives unite together, regardless of denomination, tofurther such Jewish interests as is common and desired by theconstituent Synagogues.
It is clear and understood that this Council shallin no way interfere with the autonomy of the constituentSynagogues.
We join together for the glory of G-d, for thedignity of man, for the spreading of Torah and for the strength ofthe Jewish people.
